INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES
Reducing the burden of cancer requires more than advances in any single discipline. It requires a prevention oriented, population science approach that connects rigorous epidemiology with data science, public health, clinical insight, and cancer control implementation. Our team is positioned to generate evidence that can be translated into practical strategies to improve precision prevention, guide cancer screening decisions, and advance population level cancer control.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
We recognize the role of social factors in cancer outcomes and strive to reduce health disparities. We work alongside the patients and communities we serve to design sustainable solutions to health challenges.

DISC Lab Takes ASCENT to the Community at the Power Over the Barriers Gathering
Dr. Dejana Braithwaite, Danielle Saunders, and Stassi Kiousis represented the DISC Lab at Dr. Carolyn Tucker’s Power Over the Barriers to Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Weight Loss, and Cancer Survivorship Gathering on May 16, 2026. The team tabled on behalf of the ASCENT study, engaging community members in Gainesville around cancer survivorship and nutrition research.
