High-quality diets are linked to reduced cancer recurrence, improved overall survival, and enhanced quality of life. However, studies of dietary interventions for cancer patients have had limited success for two main reasons. First, dietary interventions require an individualized approach that can be hard to control for in a clinical study. Second, maintaining a nutritious diet requires access to quality food sources, but food insecurity is common among cancer patients. The ASCENT study addresses the need for studies of personalized diet interventions that address food insecurity in cancer patients. To ensure the sustainability and feasibility of our approach, we are partnering with healthcare providers to design, implement, and test our novel combination of digital tools and patient navigation.
