Power Over the Barriers to Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Weight Loss, and Cancer Survivorship Gathering (May 16th, 2026)
Community members had the opportunity to learn about the ASCENT study (Florida Partnership for Adding Social Context to Address Cancer Survivorship Outcomes) and its mission to improve nutrition and food security among cancer survivors. High-quality diets are linked to better cancer outcomes, yet many survivors face real barriers to healthy eating, from the financial burden of medical bills to shifting nutritional needs throughout treatment.
ASCENT addresses these challenges by combining digital tools with personalized patient navigation to connect survivors with education, resources, and support for maintaining a high-quality diet. DISC Lab team members shared information about the study’s goals, answered questions from attendees, and connected with individuals interested in learning more about or participating in the research. The Gathering provided a meaningful opportunity to bring this work directly into the community and engage with the people ASCENT is designed to serve.
